During this past August 2017 Disney World Vacation, we decided to try out the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios. We thought since the dessert party is entirely Star Wars themed, (which my husband and 2 children absolutely love) and since it gives you preferential viewing of the Star Wars Fireworks show, how could we not try it?!
This Star Wars Dessert Party starts off where you pick up your VIP Star Wars themed lanyard outside Launch Bay – that proves you have paid to be at the party and is your “ticket”. This event is not included in any Disney dining plan and is an extra ticketed event, in addition to your park ticket. The price is $69.00 per adult (age 10 and over) and $39.00 per child (age 3 to 9); tax and gratuity are included. Beginning October 1, the price will change to $79.00 per adult (age 10 and over) and $45.00 for child (age 3 to 9); tax and gratuity are included.
As you enter into Star Wars launch bay – we arrived about 20 minutes early – tables are limited on a first come, first serve basis and there are NO CHAIRS. We wanted to make sure we could grab a table for the deserts.
As soon as they opened the gates waiters were serving 2 types of specialty Star Wars themed cocktails – and yes alcohol is included in your ticket!
We found a table and went straight to the buffet whilst Storm Troopers paraded the area.
Never a long line at the bar you can find Star Wars themed cocktails such as Galactic Punch, Cosmic Citrus Twist, Light Speed Margarita and Swamp Milk; you can also request other cocktails and beverages as well.
As you look down the buffet desert table at all of the mouthwatering extravagances, you will find the Freeze Fried Nutella Truffle and with it, you can choose chocolate or raspberry sauce (I chose both!) which is to die for.
After you have eaten a few goodies you can line up for a meet and greet with Chewbacca or Kylo Ren – which are in their normal meeting locations inside Launch Bay – **definitely a plus** – it’s a MUCH SHORTER line and waiting time than normal. We were a little disappointed there was no Darth Vader or any other character besides Storm Troopers promenading the party.
Since my husband is a diabetic, I called Disney beforehand to see what they could provide that would be sugar-free. The chef was nice enough to create this great box full of sugar-free / vegan / nut-free deserts for him to enjoy! Any allergies or requests just call in advance and they will make notes!
We are so glad we experienced the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios and all of its splendor. If you are looking for a great view of the show without having to sit holding your spot for a significant amount of time, then it is definitely something to look into!
Would we go again?? Probably not – it is quite a bit of extra money to spend and for the expense, it feels like dinner should be included. It definitely lacks some character involvement throughout the party. But overall we had a blast and happy to have had the experience!
What Disney Park will you visit next?
Disney World All-Star Resorts are the least expensive Value Resorts in Disney World, but not skimping on any Disney advantages! The All-Star Resorts are the utmost economical way to stay on Disney Property and still enjoy all the benefits and magic that Disney World has to offer. Included in the All-Star Resorts you have 3 resorts: the All-Star Movies, All-Star Music and All-Star Sports. Each resort is themed exactly as they sound and no other hotel could be as special.
In May of 2015, our annual Disney World vacation began with us choosing to stay in Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. For being the most economic choice, there was nothing short of Disney magic; and probably more Disney themes than you would find at moderate or deluxe accommodations!
As you enter the lobby named Cinema Hall, for all central services, you escape into a biosphere of cinema, brightly lit of stars and lights you find the typical happy Disney atmosphere. Nearby you will find Donald’s Double Feature Gift Shop. The World Premiere Food Court is just like any other value with several options – all great and tasty. Walking outside you will find the Fantasia themed pool where Sorcerer Mickey sprays water.
We chose to stay in the Toy Story area in a preferred room, which was slightly more money just to be near the busing and food court – and was totally worth every cent! Our children were in awe over the larger than life Toy Story ornamenting within your grasp!
The Toy Story section features a 27-foot-tall bucket of Green Army Men, a 30-foot-tall Woody icon and a 47-foot-tall Buzz Lightyear icon!
The other themed areas of the hotel are 101 Dalmatians, Mighty Ducks, Fantasia, and The Love Bug.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed the Movie’s pool bar conveniently located inside the pool area. Disney drinks leave nothing to be desired.
Located neighboring each other, the 3 separate resorts share the busing system – which we found to be of no issue whatsoever, during our stay in early May 2015.
What you get:
- 2 double beds. No king size bed is available at this value resort.
- Hair dryer, free Wi-Fi, safe, telephone with voicemail, bathroom, shower, 1 sink vanity, mini-refrigerator, alarm clock with radio, iron and ironing board, small table with 2 chairs, dresser and nightstand and more.
- Access to Disney’s Extra Magic Hours.
- Free transportation to and from parks.
- Disney’s Magical Express and more!
In conclusion did we like All-Star Movies Resort?
YES! We loved staying there.
We absolutely will be traveling back to Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort one day soon for the economic strength and comfort. After all, when we visit Disney Parks we are rarely in our hotel room so we don’t really need all the extras the more expensive rooms bring and it ends up being a wasted value.
When you book a room inside of Walt Disney World it really depends on what fits your family’s needs best. We love saving money!
Where will you book your room for your next Walt Disney World Resort Vacation?
Storm Trooper March – Hollywood Studios – August 2016
When staying inside the World, there are 3 types of resorts to stay in: Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Value will find you the best pricing with rooms to sleep up to 4 and the least of amenities – which really isn’t insignificant by any means! You will find Value Resorts to be the most Disney-themed out of all the resorts on the grounds. All resorts offer transportation to & from all of the parks and Disney Springs. Moderates will find you in between Value and Deluxe – with gorgeous grounds, sometimes more food options, more amenities at a slightly higher price. Deluxe resorts offer luxury at deluxe pricing, where you will have the convenience of more than 1 option for transportation to parks like monorail or boat; with extreme proximity to whatever parks they are located near and usually more than 1 sit down service as well as your quick service. Deluxe and moderates offer pool slides, where values do not. All Disney World Resorts offer complimentary Magical Express Transportation to and from the airport! When you arrive your checked luggage magically shows up in your resort room a few hours after you check in… and at time of departure, they provide transportation for return to the airport. They will also help you with documents for airline check-in for travel home, and will weigh, take and check your luggage for your departure.
In August of 2016 we stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort for our annual Disney World vacation. What a perfect resort for those with families! Art of Animation provides family suites for that much needed extra room space. Unlike Deluxe resorts that can provide extra space, AOA comes at slightly cheaper pricing but immerses you in all larger than life Disney themes inside and outside your room! While walking through this resort you become completely absorbed into the magically enhanced statues of our favorite character inside their worlds.
Whether it’s a giant few-stories-tall Ursula, or walking down a road that leads you into the world of Disney’s Car’s, it really puts the wonder and amazement in your eye!
The Cars Room was beyond our expectations; not the best in luxury, BUT unsurpassed Cars themed ornamenting. Embellished from floor to ceiling, you are placed into the world of Lightning McQueen and Mater; with all vintage and retro touches one could only expect. You may even find a cone for a lamp shade! Metal accents throughout, the 50’s retro Cars bathrooms have a vanity with the slogan and lit arrows are incredible.
POOLS: Art of Animation offers 3 pools: the Nemo Pool – which is AOA’s main pool which is the largest out of all Disney Resorts and is where you can hear music UNDER the water!
There is a splash pad located directly next to this pool.
The other 2 pools are the Cozy Cone in the Cars Section and the Flippin’ Fins Pool by the Little Mermaid Section.
The only CON to staying with the Art of Animation resort, was that we felt it was such a heavily populated resort that the busing was always crowded – even with their double-long buses they provided. However more recently it seems no matter where you stay busing is always crowded.
Would we stay at Art of Animation again in the future?? ABSOLUTELY! We had a tremendous amount of fun at AOA – our children LOVED every inch of the resort – and as a Disney Lover’s Heaven, it was so cheerfully fun! It was really nice having the extra space for a change as well and I can totally see us venturing back there in the near future.
