Planning a last minute Walt Disney World Vacation? Read on for tips!
Disclaimer: Each and every Walt Disney World Vacation is very unique as different factors can reduce or impact how your trip goes including your expectations and mindset. This are simply some tips I have used to plan a last minute Disney World Vacation.

You’ve decided you want to go to Disney World at the very last minute. You can either call 📲407-939-5277 to see what resorts are available for your dates or go online https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ . Depending on the time of the year you visit you may have all of your options open! I wouldn’t recommend a last minute trip during busy seasons like Christmas 🎄week and Easter 🐰 week – these weeks fill up months in advance. Any hotel that is available during peak times will also be horrifically expensive.
If you are not able to grab a Walt Disney World Resort then try booking their “Good Neighbor Hotels”. Staying at one of these resorts will get you early morning entry and shuttles to and from the parks. Then you will need to purchase your park tickets as soon as possible so you can begin making your park reservations. As for pricing you might be paying a little more but if you have the finances then who cares.
Travel Tip:
Go to BJ’s, Costco, Sam’s Club or Target (and use your Red Card) for discounted Disney World Gift Cards that can be used to pay your vacation and for dining and merchandise. Why pay full price? Make your buck stretch a little farther! A little legwork and you might have a savings of a few hundred dollars! Yes you can use those gift cards on the website to pay your vacation or you can call and even use a travel agent. Combine Disney Gift Cards into $1000 – each card allows you to have $1000 balances – you can combine on http://www.disneygiftcard.com
Utilizing credit cards that provide you with rewards perks or cash back are just another great way to save money on during this last minute get away. Planning a Walt Disney World Vacation in advance can most likely supply you with the most amount of savings but if you’re able to go then try the tricks provided.
As of Summer 2023 we still have Disney World Park Reservations but they will be disappearing after January 2024!
TRAVEL HACK:
Make sure you have already downloaded the My Disney Experience app on your phone and that you have created an account. Familiarize yourself with this app because you will use this app for everything including Genie 🧞!!! You will need to create an account if you want to book online. This is the biggest travel tip I can provide for Walt Disney World.
Park Reservations will be made by going on your computer and going into www.mydisneyexperience.com and then sign in. Find where it says “Make Park Reservations”. You will be able to check to see what parks are open for reservations on the dates you plan on staying. Walt Disney World has 4 theme parks to enjoy: Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is the most popular – has the most rides and books up ultra fast! You can check the dates prior by going to Tickets and Passes inside the app – select tickets – and then make selections as if you were going to buy them for dates and all and it will give you an option to check the calendar to see what parks are open for your dates.
If your park of choice is sold out – this is what you do. Don’t fret. Say you wanted Magic Kingdom but it is sold out. Reserve for one of the other parks like Animal Kingdom. Attend Animal Kingdom that morning or at least scan in by 2pm and then you may park hop over to Magic Kingdom for the remainder of the day and night.
Make your dining reservations asap. Go into your My Disney Experience App on your phone and click the small plus sign at the bottom. Then click “Check Dining Availability”. You will select the number of people, date and which park etc. The more last minute you are the less chances of availability but you can try! Dining availability is mostly booked up during peak times like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
TRAVEL HACK:
If you happen to be a Disney World Annual Passholder there is a chance you might get a nice discount on a particular resort!
Keep in mind with a last minute Walt Disney World Resort Package you might have missed out on any room discounts or promotions but depending on how slow they are you might just get one anyway! Always call and ask about discounts if you’re not using a travel agent.
